The mudroom in this home has been decorated with an elegant combination of French Empire and English elements. The colours and fabrics have been carefully chosen to blend these styles with the log construction of the home. Simple walnut woodwork and slate floor allow for artistic licence with the furnishings to create an old world feel in an unlikely home. Silk draperies and velvet cushions top the custom banquette to provide the perfect spot to enjoy this room with a view…Beautiful!

Damask, crystal and gilt combine to create a bedroom that is romantic and luxurious. Although the room has a decidedly feminine appearance, it is comfortable enough to make the man of the house happy too. The custom banquette provides much-needed storage in a modest-sized bedroom. The sideboard, found at a local antique market, was given new life with an artistic paint job, and provides the perfect spot for a drinks tray…an indulgent touch for any bedroom.

From the moment you step through the door, the foyer of this home gives an impression of what is to come. The equestrian lifestyle of the family is evident, and this house is all about beautiful country living. The French Empire sconces and chandelier blend happily with heavy jaquard draperies in traditional English style. An antique sideboard in its’ untouched original condition, along with the time-worn family portrait give the room a timeless feeling.

This warm, country kitchen has been decorated to make the most of the impressive view. An antique four-board table, given to the homeowners by the husband’s father, had sat in a barn for decades. Now the centrepiece of the kitchen, it brings warm recollections to mind with use. In order to balance out the large amount of wood in this room, banquette seating was used on one side of the table, allowing for the introduction of complimentary colours and textures in the cushions. The storage space within is much appreciated for games, puzzles and off-season items. The antique hutch, another cherished family piece, houses a collection of silver and creamware that serves as a backdrop for seasonal decor and ephemera. Another collection, of Staffordshire hens, resides on the top of the hutch.

This tiny bathroom is brimming with beautiful objects to delight the senses. Stunning golden sconces dressed in crystals, flank the moustache mirror, providing a flattering light. The highlight of this room may well be the antique dresser, inherited from the husband’s mother. A carpenter reworked the drawers to accommodate plumbing for the undermount sink, and the dresser is topped with an elegant quartz top. Vintage glass knobs add the finishing touch of class to this piece. Classic black and white floor tiles, installed on the diagonal, add interest and vintage charm. An old stall sign from the homeowners family stable hangs over the door.
